Another FO – Anklets
I did finish my Fixation anklets this week. They are very summery so I like them. The yarn is cotton so they are very comfortable to wear.
New Knitting
I haven’t done a lot of knitting this week. Not too surprised as I needed to catch up a bit following vacation. I started a pair of Christmas socks 3 times but I kept dropping a stitch or make a mistake so I end up starting over again. Hopefully this 3rd time is the charm. I am going back to my preferred method of 2 at a time magic loop. I really didn’t like 9″ circulars. But I still want to try 9″ when I knit my colorwork Advent sock. The experiment was a mixed bag in my little knitting group. Some liked 9″, some are returning to magic loop.
I have started my son’s girlfriend’s top. It’s the Heldig tank. I have to concentrate, at least in this beginning knitting until I get the two hems joined in the round. Then it will be lots of stockinette knitting. I’m not really sure if I like the needle size I’m using and not sure of the fit. I’ll knit a few inches to make sure the weave isn’t too open and make sure it fits her hips. Then I should be able to relax into knitting it.
New Project Bag
One of my knitting friends made all of us this cute sock bag. We are all participating in The Crazy Sock Lady’s summer sock camp KAL. She wanted to make a project bag for herself but since she had so much material, she made a bag for all 5 of us!! It’s so cute and the perfect size for a sock project.
Poems of Color
I was intrigued about Bohus knitting after watching the latest Fruity Knitting episode. The book from 1995 is no longer printed ($125 on Amazon) but I was able to get a copy from the library. I’d love to make this sweater.
Not a lot to share this week. It’s nice to be home again even if it means more errands and housework to do instead of knitting. It was nice to join my local knitting friends for coffee again. I will be knitting at a local micro brewery with another friend this afternoon. A great week!!
This is a year of projects (YOP) update. YOP is a Ravelry Group – make a plan for the year ahead for all your fiber activities, then update your blog every week. Plans can be calendar year (like mine) or mid-year start (like many). Following the plan is optional and creates some of the fun of posts. YOP is in it’s 11th year. I’m in my second in the group.
Fun socks – they look perfect for summer! I always find it’s hard to get back into the groove after being away, whether for a week or longer. Your micro brewery trip sounds great!

Yeah, it’s disappointing. I haven’t met my goal of 1000 stitches per day since we got back. I need to get back in my groove.

It’s “crazy” how popular her sock summer camp is. It was fun for my little group to all be knitting socks.

Your socks look very summery. The color for your son’s GF’s tank is so pretty. It does look a bit ‘lacey’. Maybe the stockinette will be a bit tighter weave. Your sock project bag is so cute. How nice of your knitting buddy to make one for all of you. It is amazing how everyone tries the 9″ circulars at least one time. Some fall in love with them and then there of those of us who go back to our most preferred method. I hope your Christmas socks finally get going for you. How frustrating to have the first 2 attempts fail. The bogus sweater is pretty and the color worked yokes are so big right now. How I wish sweaters were worn more than a month per year here in Phoenix. I would have a closet full of handknits!

Totally understand as we are now wintering in Florida. I had a bunch of sweaters in my plans but now they are going to have to be gifts. We do at least get a little bit of cool weather in Oct and Nov before we head south.

Love your fixation socks! and your sock project bag is uber cute! I love 9inch circulars but have never tried them on colourwork. I am casting on advent socks soon, so I’ll let you know.

Oh, we can be advent sock knitting buddies! I do need to get this pink tank top knitted first and then I’ll be casting on my advent socks. Funny, I’m looking forward to all my knitting projects but not getting a lot of knitting done. Oh well.

Those socks do look cheery. 🙂 And what a sweet (and perfect) project bag for your Crazy Sock Lady’s Summer Camp KAL.

I’ve not come across Bohus knitting before. What lovely jumpers they produced and such a great story.

Yeah, I’m not sure I’m ready to tackle the complexity. Hopefully Fruity Knitting will do some update episodes as the daughter wants to knit the same one I like.

Bohus always makes me think of Bauhaus. Although one was an Swedish knitting collective and the other an art movement AND a band. But now I’m down a Bauhaus worm hole, and I am A OK with this.
PS: love the sweater you want to knit!

Too funny. Worm holes are currently killing my knitting efficiency. 🙂

I could do with making some cotton socks for summer, is there anything different you personally do when knitting cotton ones rather than wool ones. I absolutely love the camping project bag.

Cascade Fixation yarn is 98% cotton, 2% Spandex which makes it easy to knit with and springy like wool. Don’t know if you can get it in the UK?

I love your socks, they look like summer candy confetti, if you know what I mean? Interesting to hear the many different opinions on the various needles. I don’t like magic loop at all and always knit socks on dpns (yes, I’m old-fashioned, probably because I’m old. LOL.). The sock bag is really cute, and what a lovely generous gift!

I was taught in DPNs but found them too fiddly. I’m sure it’s what you get used to. Plus I really prefer knitting 2 at a time. That said I just put a pair on 9″ so that I have a tiny project to carry with me while grocery shopping and to tonight’s soccer game.

Your socks are perfect, I think mine will end up shorties as well. I love the colour of the tank.
