Sailormoon Continues to Grow

My second Sailormoon sweater continues to grow. I’ve made good progress on the body. Only 2 more sets of stripes before I start the lace bottom. Maybe today while watching football!!?? It is such a pleasure to knit. I will definitely get it done this month!

Advent 2019 SocksOr how many mistakes can you make in one stripe!

I added 2 more stripes to my Advent 2019 socks. I’m not knitting them in the order of the pattern but picking and choosing stripes that I like. I basically knit the holly stripe twice. Mistake #1 – got cocky and thought I knew the pattern. Uh no, not always 3 green stitches followed by 2 white. Frog two rows. Mistake #2 – happily finished stripe when, huh – why does my ivy look like propeller blades instead of ivy?? Seems I turned the pattern upside down halfway through knitting it!! Frogged back to the red berries and reknit the upper leaves. The gold centers of poinsettia stripe didn’t show up well so I’m going to duplicate stitch them. Two more stripes and then time for the heel.

Tumbler Cozies

I continue to make slow progress on my second tumbler cozy. No rush on this project. Berroco Fixation yarn is perfect for these cozies, 98% cotton and 2% spandex.

Autumn ’21 Update

Continues to be summerlike in SW Ohio. We are 5C/10F above normal and will be for the next week. Great for hubby’s bladder pain issues. Not much color change in the trees although lots more leaves on the driveway!! I’ve already cleared the leaves earlier this week too! Got to have a lovely get together with my dad and brother’s family at a nano brewery where they all live. Roasted pumpkin porter – YUM!! It was so nice to enjoy being together. Wishing you a wonderful autumn week.

This is a year of projects (YOP) update. YOP is a Ravelry Group – make a plan for the year ahead for all your fiber activities, then update your blog each week. Plans can be calendar year (like mine) or mid-year start (like many). Following the plan is optional and creates some of the fun of posts. YOP is in it’s 11th year. It’s my second in the group.

  1. It’s a weird Fall in my neck of the woods too. More green than I’m used to at this time of year, warmer temps despite seeing leaf fall.

As always, your projects look amazing. Love the color combo you used for your sweater and the socks are so festive. I absolutely disagree, I see holly and leaves NOT propeller blades. LOL!

    Great work as always Maureen.

  2. I’m in the UK and the past 2 days I’ve been outside in just a t-shirt and no coat…I’ve never known an autumn like it!

I love the socks! And is that a skeleton in the garden?! I hope it’s for Halloween! 🙂

  3. The advent socks are very pretty. Having never done colorwork, I love seeing it done by others. Someday I will learn. I bet you are excited about coming to the end of the sailor moon sweater. It looks so nice. The tumbler cozies are cute.

  4. Your Sailor Moon is coming on beautifully and those socks are really fun. I spend a lot of time with colourwork thinking ‘Oh I’ve got this now’, usually just before it turns out I don’t have it at all!

    1. So true. Why does it take till I’m done to see that’s it’s wrong?? Thankfully with socks tinking back a few rows isn’t so bad but I need to be really careful if I try a colorwork sweater!

  5. Your sailor moon is so pretty. I take it you carry the yarn otherwise you would have lots of ends to weave in. You have a beautiful acreage and I like the skeleton! Your cozies are cute but your Advent socks take the cake! They are beautiful! Don’t wear them…frame them! Have a great week!

    1. Aw, thanks. I am carrying the yarn down the side since it’s only 4 rows. Yes, I don’t want to keep weaving in ends. Thanks, but I’m looking forward to wearing the Advent socks this Christmas.

  6. Maybe check out the Autumn Doodle Cowl and Hat and Cozy from PNWKnitDesign. She is on Instagram, ravelry, and has her own web site https://www.pacificknitco.com/. She has a Christmas version, too. They are basically sampler recipes and you choose your own adventure with motifs and the order they are in.

I have started two colorwork sweaters — one with colorwork on the yoke and the other at the hem. Definitely need to pay attention with colorwork.

  7. What pretty photos. I love your sailor moon, it does seem to be speeding along. Have you been trying you advent socks on as you go? It could be the camera angle but they look like they are getting narrower? Just checking as I think you had size issues last time. I definitely see holly leaves.

    1. Good catch. I have not tried them yet but I will. It seemed a little too soon after only 2 rows, but 4 rows is definitely time. Narrowing at the ankle wouldn’t be a bad thing, assuming I can get them over my heel.
